New York City

New York City

Finally, here are the pictures from our New York trip. Phil and I took a wonderful trip with my family to New York City. What took us back to New York again, was the last Yankees game in their old stadium. Well, I guess that part was for the boys and shopping was for the girls. We had a blast!!! It's always fun being with family in a fun city like New York. No, Carson didn't go with us. He stayed back here with his aunt Mal. She couldn't go because of nursing school. Here are some pictures of our highlights.

Yummy! Dessert is one of our favorite parts of New York. You can find all different varieties on every corner!

We took a ferry to Staton Island. The weather was so beautiful and the view was great! It is the best way to see the Statue of Liberty! I still get chill bumps seeing it! Here are some pictures of our ferry ride!

This is a picture of Manhattan. It is crazy how cram packed it is and how tall each building is.

A night out on the town!

Here are some pictures of our touring!

The building behind them is the New York Stock Exchange.

Our journey that night lead us to a wonderful hidden gem in Little Italy. The restraunt was called Puglia's. They were all locals and were having a wonderful time. There was the old man that has been singing there for like 20 years. He sings this song called "shake your napkin" that the locals love. Evedently you can buy it on itunes. His name is Jorge Binucci. Anyway, we had so much fun. Here we are enjoying pizza and songs.

Here we are in Time Square. Just beautiful at night!
We also went to Central Park that night. It is such a peaceful place inside such a busy city.

On the subway.

We went down to Ground Zero again. There is still a large hole in the ground. They are working on the base for the towers going up. In all the times we have been down there we had never gone to the fire station right across the street from there. We just happened to walk down that street and find it. It was the first fire station to respond to the blast and each one of the crew members died that day. They have an awsome memorial and amazing momentos at the station. it is still in operation. So wonderful to see. Here are two pictures of the memorial wall.

Yankees Game

Ok, here is where Phil is going to take over and give the details. I know most of you girls will stop looking at this point and I understand. Your husbands might be more interested in the photos below. But, I did enjoy looking at them and hearing about it.

Picture of "right field porch" where Babe Ruth use to hit the ball.

While at the game, Andy Pettitte reached 2,000 strikeouts for his carrer!

Last pitch of the game in old Yankee stadium.

Security was really tight. Here is a picture of some of the horses and police officers on the field after the game.

Just another day or not!

Well, Wednesday morning I woke up and thought, I am so glad to be home (we had been in New York) and have a normal day with Carson. But, when I went to get Carson up that morning, I could tell this wasn't "just another day". His left eye was swollen shut. He had been sick for about a week and I knew he still wasn't feeling good, but had no idea why his eye looked so bad. So we got dressed and took him into see our wonderful doctor! Basically he said that his sinus infection has spread into the eye tissue. He got a really big shot and then was put on another round of antibiotics. Bless his heart! Here are some pictures of his poor eye.

After the doctor we had to go out to my parents. While we were there Carson and I heard this strange noise coming from outside. Carson ran to the door and was saying "go" and making his "oh" face. So, we went outside to see what was going on. There were turkey's outside! That's right 5 turkeys! Carson thought they were so funny. He was careful not to get too close. He found a turkey feather and carried it around with him. Here are some pictures of our "just another day or not" turkeys.

Carson loves to play with the cat!

Today Carson also discovered this pot full of dirt. He loved playing in it! I think it took his mind off of not feeling well.

Chicken & Biscuits Recipe

My great friend Amy posts recipes on her blog sometimes and I thought it was a great idea. I love getting new recipes! So, here is a recipe I tried this this week and we all really liked it. It is simple, full of veggies, and a good comfort food. It reminds me of a chicken pot pie, kind of. I don't really like pot pie, but loved this. So, I thought I would pass along this recipe.

Chicken & Biscuits
1 can cream of chicken soup
3/4 cup sour cream , divided
2 cups chopped cooked chicken (I shreaded my chicken)
1 pkg. (16 oz) frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
1 cup shredded cheese
1 cup baking mix
3 Tbsp. milk
Heat oven to 375. Mix soup and 1/2 cup sour cream, cheese, thawed veggies, and chicken. I also added in some seasonings. Put in a greased 8x8 or 2 qt. baking dish. Mix baking mix, remaining 1/4 cup sour cream, and milk in a bowl. Mix until stiff dough forms. Drop big drops of biscuits onto the mixture in the baking dish. I think I did 6 biscuits. Bake 35 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and the chicken mixture is bubbly.
I hope you enjoy. Carson really loved this also! Happy cooking!

The Chair

About a month ago I posted about Carson's new chair. Well here is an update on how much he loves the chair. The pictures below will show how much time he spends in or on it. This day he insisted on having his vaccum cleaner up in the chair with him. He also was reading his book while in the chair. The chair has brought about a little confussion though. Before, when it was time to eat I would always tell him to go and get in his chair, meaning the high chair. But now that we have another chair he will go and get in "his" chair. One day he got so upset that he couldn't sit in his chair and eat his lunch. So, needless to say, now I have to say go and get in your "high" chair.

West Texas Fair

West Texas Fair
We took Carson to the fair this year. He loved it! He loved the lights, people, rides, music, and of course the food!

Carson wanted to kiss all the animals. So cute! The goats were the only ones that tried to kiss him back. We had been at the goat show earlier that day, so he was saying goat and making goat noises everytime he saw any animal. It was so funny!

Carson was so excited because they had live music. He loves music and loves to dance. Here he was trying to dance with me, but I think he likes to "shake it" by himself.

When we first walked into the fair, he spotted the Feris Wheel. He was pointing to it and kept saying "go". We took him to it and he just looked at the lights forever and then he was ready to ride. There was a long line and he didn't understand that we had to wait. He kept running up to the front of the line and trying to get on by himself. Once we got on he was speechless. He held on tight to the bars and just looked around.

Goodbye fair! We can't wait till next September!

What a Big Boy!

Well, Carson is officially a big boy! He started Mothers Day Out last week. He is only going on Thursdays right now. Here are some pictures before we left that day. He loved it. Actually he cried when I picked him up. The boy loves to play! I had a good day and didn't cry other than a few tears right when I got in the car. A mother can't help but worry a little. I actually felt like it was the longest day in history. When you don't have to entertain, change diapers, feed, read books, etc. every 10 minutes you can get a lot done. Carson is looking forward to his Thursday play days!

Are you sure I have to go!!!! I'm not sure about this!
Ok lets go and play!

Hanging out at Home!

Here are some pictures of Carson hanging out at home. He just loves being at home and playing. Here are some pictures of him being silly with Phil and me!

Carson got a new chair this weekend. He loves it! I don't know how much he actually sits in it, but he does "play" with it. He has jumped on it, crawled on it and jumped off of it. Here are pictures of him with his chair.

The sitting was short lived!
